Term Time Only plus 5 days

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Primary Cover Supervisor to join Appleton Academy.
The role of Cover Supervisor is vital in ensuring positive outcomes and safety of all our children. The successful candidate will deliver high quality classroom supervision, ensuring pupils remain engaged and manage classroom behaviour. The role may involve supporting specific children with additional needs.
Appleton Academy is part of Exceed Academies Trust, which currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The Trust has an excellent reputation within Bradford and beyond, and an outstanding track record of supporting staff in developing their careers through specialist training lead by the Exceed Teaching School Hub and our Outstanding SCITT.
The successful candidate will;
• Be prepared to deliver lessons for the year group they are covering (lesson will be planned by the class teacher)
• Assist/support students with tasks as needed
• Be confident in providing detailed and regular feedback to the class teacher
• Be able to effectively manage behaviour
• Be resourceful, creative, and imaginative with fantastic communication skills
• Show initiative and the ability to respond calmly to a variety of situations
• In an emergency, be able to think of activities to occupy the class until work is set
The essential requirements of this role are;
• GCSE Maths & English Level C or above
• Evidence of further education or training
• Experience of working with pupils with learning and/or mental health needs or student support capacity or other specific behaviours
• Use of management information systems (SIMS etc) and associated ICT
• Having an understanding of how children develop and learn
• Fluency of the English Language at an Advanced Threshold Level
• Ability to manage workloads and work calmly under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal skills
