What skills and experience we're looking for
York High School has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Performance to join our team. This is a new role for the school, and we are looking for a highly motivated colleague to join us who will shape the role and lead the newly created faculty, which will consist of art, performing arts and physical education.
The successful candidate will have a teaching specialism in either performing arts or girls’ physical education. You must be a highly effective and reflective teacher, who is committed to ensuring the highest standards for our young people to support their future learning and adult life. You will be a committed and innovative practitioner, with the ability to lead classroom teachers and subject leaders in a range of disciplines.
The Performance Faculty currently consists of 6 full-time teachers, 3 part time teachers and a shared technician supporting the Art department. As well as the Head of Faculty there are Subject Leaders of the other departments. The Faculty has a number of experienced teachers and others newer to the profession.
All students study art, drama, music and physical education at KS3 and the Faculty runs many popular courses at KS4. The Performance Faculty also offers numerous enrichment activities and organises a range of whole school events.
Visits to the school and informal discussions regarding the role are welcomed and very much encouraged. In order to arrange a visit or discussion, please contact Dawn Becton, PA to Principal and Office Manager, on d.becton@yorkhigh.elt.org.uk.
Further details about our school are available on our website, www.yorkhighschool.co.uk.
An application form, job description and person specification are available on the Trust website:
