Summary
Ensure a high standard of care for all patients with a diagnosis of skin cancer, providing a high standard of psychosocial support for the patient and their family/carers during and after any treatment. Act as an effective key worker for all patients and their families, providing advice, support and signposting when necessary. Develop nurse led clinics working in parallel with multidisciplinary team members. Ensure patients holistic needs are taken into consideration in the decision making process utilising the relevant tools and skills Utilise highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings acting as a keyworker for patients. Take part in training provision of identified staff groups within defined areas Support patients, carers and staff during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. breaking bad news or following an unexpected event Undertake and complete the relevant surgical training to preform nurse led surgical procedures including punch biopsies and curettage and cautery. Attend the relevant chemotherapy training course to be deemed competent to support and educate the oncology patients within the service.
