Summary
The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for neuro-oncology and a strong commitment to cancer care. In this role, you will be working with a diverse group of adult patients diagnosed with both high- and low-grade brain tumours, requiring you to assess their complex and holistic care needs, predominantly in an outpatient setting. You must possess excellent communication skills as well as organizational skills and be a self-motivated practitioner capable of inspiring confidence in both patients and colleagues. Additionally, you will be an advocate for patients and their families. The role requires the ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including consultants and members of the broader neuro-oncology team. The Neuro Oncology service is across both sites, this post is based in Sutton For further information, please refer to the Job description /person specification To sustain a high quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of thedisease. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, formulate and/or revise relevant policies/guidelines and regularly review them following change/implementation whilstalways working within the policies and procedures of the Trust. In collaboration with other members of the Neuro-oncology multidisciplinary team utilise and develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so thatpatients with complex needs are referred to the appropriate specialists & agencies To maintain nurse-led 'telephone clinics' whereby patients are provided with information and support and the problems and needs of patients and their carers are assessed and appropriatelychanneled and referred to other services as required. Develop and utilise requisite advanced practice skills to develop and maintain nurse led follow-up services, whereby patients are referred on to medical colleagues following appropriate assessmentto maximize the efficient delivery of service To initiate, run and evaluate appropriate group support in conjunction with other relevant professional disciplines.
