Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Design Technology Teacher to join a dedicated team at a vibrant school. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through hands-on, creative learning in a well-resourced DT department. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as Design Technology Teacher:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and KS5 if applicable)

  • Plan and prepare engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback and support to help every learner succeed

  • Create a safe and stimulating workshop/classroom environment conducive to creativity and hands-on learning

  • Maintain and manage tools, equipment and materials, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed

  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum planning

  • Support extracurricular activities, such as clubs, competitions or trips linked to DT and STEM

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and whole-school events

  • Uphold the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

  • Has a specialism in Design Technology (e.g. Product Design, Engineering, Textiles, Graphics, Resistant Materials)

  • Has strong subject knowledge and practical skills in a workshop/classroom setting

  • Is confident using CAD/CAM and other design software (desirable but not essential)

  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and a commitment to inclusive practice

  • Is passionate about inspiring creativity, independence, and problem-solving in young people as a Design Technology Teacher.

  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to school life
