The base location will be Leamington Spa College, but there will be the expectation of cross college travel.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

BACKGROUND TO THE POST
The post holder will be accountable for providing strategic planning, development, management and leadership of WCGs cross group careers and library services across its range of activities. This meeting the needs of students and cross group colleagues.
The post holder will work with internal and external services regarding career education advice and guidance to ensure an effective service delivery. Will provide leadership, expertise and direction to the Careers and Progression Advisers, Schools liaison, and the Library Manager.
The post holder will be accountable for resource and financial management and through the effective deployment of resources and college systems and procedures, will ensure that each student has access to and receives an outstanding experience
The post holder will report to the Director of Quality, Student Experience and Inclusion.
MAIN DUTIES
Lead a team committed to helping students to undertake the process of career planning, including:
Clarifying their own interests, values, skills and abilities
Identifying appropriate opportunities
Making informed career and progression choices.
Providing services of a high professional standard, responding to client need and welcoming feedback from clients and colleagues
Ensuring equality of opportunity in the delivery of the service
Showing impartiality in career guidance discussions with clients
Treating clients and colleagues with respect and courtesy
Fostering a spirit of team working with colleagues
CORE MANAGEMENT COMPETENCIES
To have experience of line management and working in an FE college environment.
To have a demonstrable record and understanding of the Gatsby benchmarks and the utilisation of data, student feedback and emerging trends.
To have a full understanding and knowledge of safeguarding.
To be able to facilitate improvement and innovation.
To be able to prioritise, organise and utilise resources to deliver to time, and agreed quality

Essential Attainments:
GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 qualification.
Educated to Level 6 or Level 7 in Careers Advice and Guidance/development
Desirable Attainments:
Qualification in Management.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Experience working in FE Colleges/education sector
Experience/understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks and implementation of these
Extensive careers/advice and guidance experience
Clear understanding of relevant sector needs and strategies to meet skills required.
Proven track record of working with customers
Knowledge of legislation relating to careers education
Experience of monitoring and evaluating progress/areas for improvement
Experience of performance and impact management of teams.
Excellent communication skills – resilience and being solution focused.
