Summary
To provide comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessment of young people and their families/carers referred with learning disability and/or autistic spectrum disorder and/or ADHD. To provide evidence-based behaviour management interventions as part of an integrated care package to children, young people and their families/carers. To safely prescribe and monitor medications within local and national guidelines, in liaison with a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. This includes conveying to parents, carers and young people, the implications of a prescribed medication, the side effects and what they have to watch for in a sensitive, meaningful way. To demonstrate a working knowledge of the prescription of medication effects, side-effects and contra-indications in accordance with the independent and supplementary prescribers training and current legislation. To be aware of key trends in the evidence base for prescribing and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of medicines commonly prescribed 1.6. To maintain a record of all medicines prescribed for audit purposes.To monitor the efficacy of medicines prescribed and manage any side effects safely, using the Yellow Card reporting system as appropriate.
