About the Role

The Employee Service Centre (ESC) is looking to appoint a number of Assistant Team Leaders to support the busy payroll teams. An Assistant Team Leader will support the payroll team that pays the employees of Leicestershire County Council, and another will support the payroll control team. This team focuses on running the background processes that ensure that everyone gets paid and the books balance.

Forming part of East Midlands Shared Services (EMSS), the ESC is a dynamic and fast-paced service providing transactional Payroll and HR Administration services for our partners, Nottingham City Council & Leicestershire County Council, along with some external customers. Here at EMSS, no two days are the same, as there is always something new to dive into or focus on to make a difference!

As an Assistant Team Leader, you will have a varied role. You will support with the day to day running of the team, you will get involved in the more complex queries and you will complete testing, to name just a few activities. Everything that you do will help shape your team.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have NVQ 3 level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • Have knowledge or experience of using Oracle ERP system or similar HR/Payroll system
  • Have knowledge of working with external customers and understand the importance of customer service.
  • Be able to prioritise and meet deadlines by planning and utilising organisational skills.
  • Be competent in the use of ICT and Microsoft systems, whilst also demonstrating strong Excel knowledge and skills.
  • Be good with numbers, have knowledge or experience in dealing with reconciliation of accounts and costing structures or strong payroll knowledge.
  • Be able to utilise continuous improvement methods and techniques to ensure that the customer journey is consistently improved.
