Summary
We are looking for a maintenance supervisor to join the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) in the Estates department. Working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, you will be helping to deliver an excellent maintenance service direct to our customers.
In this role, you will:
• Be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a small multi disciplined team
• Act as an authorised person (AP) in accordance with Cardiff Universities approved policies, procedures, statutory and technical guidelines.
• Provide detailed advice and guidance on all maintenance repairs.
• Ensuring all planned, reactive and out of hours maintenance works are completed safely, cost effectively and to the agreed Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements.
• Ensure operatives and contractors comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
• Establish basic trends and patterns in maintenance activities, aiding the creation of works in progress and other reports as appropriate.
• Interrogate and utilise estates maintenance systems to aid in making informed decisions on repairs.
• Gather estimates from framework contractors for maintenance repairs and deliver specific small-scale projects from inception through to completion.
• Establish working relationships with key customers to help improve service levels.
• Manage critical and essential material stock levels. Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles, taking responsibility for the upkeep of asset registers.
We’d like to hear from you if you:
• Hold a recognised apprenticeship in City and Guilds/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Fabric, plumbing and or a mechanical discipline/HVAC.
• Have extensive experience and knowledge of systems in a similar environment, associated within a trade specific role.
• Good understanding of job specific General Health and Safety in the workplace including risk assessments and method statements
• Experience of managing workloads, prioritising within set Service Level Agreement’s and customer satisfaction
• Experience of managing the workload of others.
• Experience of dealing with performance and welfare issues.
• Ability to communicate detailed information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.
