Summary
Do you thrive working under pressure?
If so, we’d love to hear from you!
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a regulatory environment, enjoys leading people, and can build effective relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
The National Compliance Team Manager works within the Office of the Traffic Commissioner (OTC).
The Traffic Commissioners (TC) are responsible for licensing and regulating operators of goods vehicles (heavy and light), buses, coaches, and vocational drivers across Great Britain. They also oversee functions such as local bus service registrations, appeals against vehicle impounding, and other regulatory duties.
As National Compliance Team Manager, you will lead a geographically dispersed team, ensuring high-quality administrative support is provided to the Traffic Commissioners to enable effective regulation of operator licensing and vocational driver conduct. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all work is delivered efficiently and within statutory timeframes, referring non-compliance cases promptly and in line with statutory documents and service level agreements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To manage the receipt of evidence from enforcement agencies on alleged non-compliance, allocating to caseworkers and ensuring that it is processed in accordance with the operating instructions, Statutory Documents, and service level agreement (SLA), so that the TCs are provided with high quality submissions which recommend an appropriate course of action.
- Managing the team in the processing of applications for the return of vehicles that have been impounded, liaising with the relevant parties to ensure the TC has a complete case in order to make an informed decision and referring hearings to the relevant Hearing Centre once prepared.
- Execute management responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes, planning and coordinating tasks and activities and taking responsibility for ensuring objectives are delivered.
- Provide guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives. Manage and engage with honesty and integrity, upholding the reputation of the OTC, DVSA, Department and Civil Service.
- Working closely with all TCs to ensure the provision of high-quality OTC functions, including submissions and related matters.
- Liaising with relevant internal and external departments and Bodies to ensure that business objectives are met.
