Summary
We’re offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our supportive Colorectal Cancer Nursing Team at Homerton Healthcare. This is a developmental Band 6/7 Clinical Nurse Specialist role, ideal for someone with experience in colorectal and/or cancer nursing ready to take the next step.
You'll support patients with bowel cancer across the treatment pathway, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Band 6 postholders will be supported to develop the skills needed to progress to Band 7, though progression is not guaranteed. Candidates with relevant experience may be appointed directly at Band 7, which includes line management responsibilities, strategic input into service development, and support to the stoma care service as needed.
The role requires excellent communication, clinical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex care autonomously while working closely with the Nurse Consultant, colorectal surgeons, and the wider MDT. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Band 6 looking to grow or a Band 7 seeking a fresh challenge in a team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred cancer care.
Interview date: Tuesday 24thJune, 11am -1pm
• Deliver holistic assessments and evidence-based interventions to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of patients throughout their cancer pathway.
• Provide clinical expertise and advice to colleagues in both inpatient and outpatient settings, promoting high standards of care through role modelling and professional leadership.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to cancer performance targets, audits, and data collection to support service improvement.
• Participate in nurse-led clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to decision-making and ongoing treatment planning.
• Support the delivery of stoma care when required, particularly during periods of leave within the stoma care team.
• Contribute to service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, and policy reviews to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
• Engage in continuing professional development and, where appropriate, work toward achieving competencies for progression to a Band 7 role.
• Provide guidance and support to junior staff and, at Band 7 level, undertake formal line management responsibilities.
• Uphold Trust values and work collaboratively across clinical and non-clinical teams to deliver compassionate, safe, and effective care.
