JUNIOR IT SUPPORT ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION

We have a part-time vacancy for a junior IT support engineer.

This is a flexible 16 hours a week role with extensive on-site work at clients' sites all over London after training has taken place. The position involves troubleshooting servers, workstations, networking equipment and software at clients' sites and remotely, as well as taking accurate and precise descriptions of problems for escalation to senior engineers. You must possess a sound understanding of networking principles for this role. Additional training is provided.

We are a very small team, and are therefore unable to micro-manage anyone. Independence, initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to work alone as well as with colleagues are essential. If you're the kind of person who is on their phone as soon as your boss isn't looking, please don't apply for this job.

BENEFITS

This is an ideal opportunity to gain a huge amount of practical skills in a short time, which would give you an edge in interviews when looking for your next job. Remote and flexible working are possible some of the time; however, you must be prepared to work between 10:00 and 14:00 at least two days per week most weeks (within Monday to Friday). You will never be required to work weekends. Job-sharing and working only school hours are very welcome arrangements. We believe that parents deserve a good work-life balance.

We are a social enterprise and are based in London. We are an equal opportunities employer and will only recruit based on a technical skills test.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential skills: excellent organisational skills, intelligence, attention to detail, dedication and tenacity, basic networking skills.

The position involves working in a small team, so the ability to work well at all levels and get on with the work to hand, often working to tight deadlines, is important. Applicants who are not degree-educated will be considered for this position if they have over two years' experience and an exceptionally professional manner. A DBS (CRB) check will be performed on the successful candidate prior to starting in the role.

An interest in social enterprise or civil society would be beneficial.
