Summary
The Science, Technology, Research and Analysis (STAR) Group sits at the heart of the Home Office. The group ensures the best evidence and analysis are used to address the strategic issues facing the Department. We also provide the science, technology, data, and international insights and collaboration capabilities to drive delivery.
The Data and Information Learning Service is a creative and passionate team dedicated to helping staff adapt to the fast-changing world of data and artificial intelligence. We focus on building confidence in data and AI literacy and driving culture change to ensure everyone can effectively engage with these technologies.
By enhancing data and AI literacy through bespoke learning interventions and comms for staff at all grades, this role empowers staff to confidently use data and AI in their daily work. It supports their professional growth, improves decision-making, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
You’ll be part of a motivated team driving the Government’s data and tech transformation. The Home Office Data & Identity Directorate, part of the STAR Group, collaborates with partners to make the Department’s vision for data and technology a reality. Our goal is to transform how the Home Office manages and uses data and AI to meet Government objectives, build a Modern Civil Service, and maintain public trust.
You’ll be working on data and AI literacy as well as the AI People Capability Workstream, a cross-departmental initiative collaborating closely with DDaT, HR, and AI Strategy teams. This is an exciting period for the Department as we embrace cutting-edge technology. You will be at the forefront of a key government priority, focusing on the upskilling of the Home Office workforce on data and AI to ensure readiness for future advancements. This role is integral to fulfilling the Prime Minister's commitments to AI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Delivery: Creating engaging, blended learning interventions (both digital and face-to-face) that address data literacy issues and promote a culture of continuous improvement. You will use robust instructional design methodologies to develop and facilitate impactful courses or communications campaigns tailored to diverse audiences.
- Technology-Enhanced Content Development: Producing engaging e-learning content including: storyboarding, scripting and where possible, contributing to video production and graphic design to deliver clear, concise messaging and training.
- Culture Change & Problem Solving: Driving culture change by identifying and implementing learning products or communications campaigns that resolve data-related business challenges. You will support problem-solving initiatives by tailoring solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating closely with partners, subject matter experts, and senior stakeholders to ensure learning and communications strategies are aligned with business objectives and effectively support change initiatives.
- Project Management: Coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met. You will also manage reporting on the effectiveness and impact of learning and communication interventions.
- Evaluation & Continuous Improvement: Undertaking regular reviews and learning needs analyses to identify emerging skill gaps and opportunities for further culture change on data and AI literacy improvements, then adjusting learning and communications approaches accordingly.
We are recruiting for 1 x permanent role and 1 x 12-month Fixed-Term Appointment. The highest scoring candidate will be offered the permanent role.
The second post is being offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis in order to complete a finite piece of work.
Working Patterns
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available.
Travel
Occasional travel within the UK may be required. Travel costs incurred for business need, will be reimbursed in line with Home Office travel policy.
