Summary
Bookish Café is on the lookout for a passionate, creative full-time chef to lead our kitchen and bring fresh, nourishing dishes to life in the heart of Crickhowell.
We serve breakfast and lunch inspired by the principles of wholesome, feel-good eating. Think: seasonal produce, simple ingredients, big flavour, and a love of local sourcing. Our kitchen is small but mighty — you’ll work solo, closely supported by our friendly front-of-house team and hands-on owners.

What You'll Be Doing
• Planning and delivering a vibrant, produce-led menu that celebrates simplicity
• Preparing high-quality, healthful breakfast and lunch dishes
• Creating daily and weekly specials with a focus on flavour and seasonality
• Managing stock, ordering, and kitchen organisation
• Ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are maintained to a high level
• Contributing to a warm, collaborative atmosphere with the whole café team

What We're Looking For
• Proven experience creating fresh, unfussy dishes that let ingredients shine
• Level 2 Food Hygiene certification
• A passion for cooking with seasonal and local produce
• Calm, friendly, and encouraging attitude — especially under pressure
• A self-starter with good organisational skills and a love of good food
