Summary

This is a part time role working 17.5 hours a week.

Finance are recruiting a part-time Tax Accountant, with a focus on VAT Return production and providing a professional, efficient, and customer focused service across the University.

As part of the Financial Accounting & Tax Team the successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant to provide a professional and customer focussed Finance Service, ensuring that finance outcomes are delivered on time, to the agreed level and in line with Finance Policies and Procedures. They will understand the local and organisational business environment, identifying risks, providing insights and flexible, innovative solutions.

The successful candidate will:

Be a professionally qualified individual (CTA or accounting – CCAB) and will have experience applying technical knowledge working in an accounting or taxation department
Work within in a small accounting team, supporting the Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant, contributing to the efficient, effective, and compliant management of the taxation and treasury processes.
Primarily focus on VAT matters, but with support for corporate and other taxes.
Support with the daily treasury function and cash management
Apply specialist technical knowledge to assist with, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, and appropriately escalating non-compliance.
Acting with a strong sense of purpose and dynamic vision for Finance, the role will confidently provide advice, support and training on technical taxation matters to Finance staff and other University departments.
From time to time, as requested by the Head of Financial Accounting & Tax, to assist with other accounting matters.
