Health & Safety Officer / H&S Advisor

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Health & Safety Officer / H&S Advisor who is NEBOSH Level 6 qualified to join our team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council.


SALARY: £35,235 - £37,035 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid Working with your time split working from Home and the Office in Beverley. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to Beverley (HU17)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Health & Safety Officer / H&S Advisor who is NEBOSH Level 6 qualified.

The team operate as a support function, upskilling and empowering services across the council and external clients, delivering high-quality occupational health and safety services. As a Health & Safety Officer / H&S Advisor you will provide advisory, compliance monitoring, and inspection services to stakeholders, ensuring that risks are minimised, and the Council operates within legislative requirements, regulations, and codes of practice.

Your responsibilities as a Health & Safety Officer / H&S Advisor will include:

• Offer expert advice on health and safety legislation and statutory frameworks to stakeholders

• Conduct a program of audits to ensure compliance, and compile detailed reports with findings, lessons learned, and future requirements

• Collaborate with managers to investigate accidents or incidents, so the ability to communicate well and influence stakeholders is essential

• Collate and analyse data from audits, inspections, and reports to inform future activity planning

• Assist in reviewing and updating health & safety policies, procedures, and guidelines

• Support employee wellbeing and direct managers to appropriate resources

• Work alongside team members to share good practices and specialist knowledge

• Undertake special projects as directed by the Senior Health and Safety Officers and Occupational Health and Safety Manager


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• You must have NEBOSH Level 6 qualification

• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders is also essential

• You should have current knowledge of health & safety regulatory requirements, legislation, frameworks, and policies, and an understanding of relevant national and regional policy and legislation relating to health and safety

• Knowledge in a specialist area such as noise, construction, vibration, legionella, etc. are desirable, as is membership of a relevant professional body
