Summary
Are you motivated, energetic, and organised with the ability to connect with both young people and staff/volunteers? If you’re fun, full of energy yet know how to stay composed under pressure then this role might be just what you’re looking for.
No two days are the same, so you’ll need to be versatile, leading the creation of the Senior club offer while supporting both the recruitment and development of the delivery team. You’ll also be responsible for the smooth implementation and operation of the Senior club program whilst supporting the rest of the core Youth Work offer as needed.
About the role
As a key part of our delivery team, you’ll be at the heart of the action, leading the way in our Senior Club for young people aged 13 to 19 (or up to 25 for those with additional needs). You will also have specific oversight over one of the Youth Zone’s Arts or Sports and Holiday Club offers.
Your mission? To create an exciting, high-quality programme that’s fun, engaging, and truly makes a difference – all while keeping young people at the centre of everything we do. If you’re passionate about giving young people the best experiences and opportunities, this is the role for you!
Key responsibilities include:
Recruit, train, manage, develop, coordinate and maintain sessional youth work staff
Support and coordinate an inclusive, engaging, and up-to-date youth work offer
You will design, create and oversee a dynamic programme of activities across either Arts, Sports or Holiday Club, ensuring young people enjoy a diverse, high-quality range of activities that inspire growth and development
Ensure young people’s ideas are integral to planning all activities and that their voices are championed and advocated for within the Youth Zone
Ensure the Youth Zone is a safe, welcoming place for young people, maintaining high standards of behaviour.
You will have/have experience of:
Proven experience in creating, developing and leading open-access youth programmes creating a safe environment to deliver engaging programmes for diverse youth demographics (ages 8-19, up to 25 with additional needs/disabilities)
Experienced in safeguarding, ideally as a designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the safety and well-being of all young people with unwavering commitment and proficiency in related referral processes
Having a young person focused approach, being passionate about the power and impact of youth work and using it as a vehicle to empower young people to become the very best versions of themselves
Educated in a relevant subject or equivalent experience, ideally supported by a youth work qualification. An understanding of Arts and Sports programme development would be advantageous
