Summary
Job Title: Independent Fostering Assessor (Ad Hoc)
Location: East Riding (Remote with Home Visits)
Contract Type: Freelance / Ad Hoc
Pay: Case completion-based (Approx. 6 hours per week per case)
Overview:
East Riding is currently seeking experienced, qualified Social Workers to join their team as Independent Fostering Assessors on an ad hoc, freelance basis. This role offers flexibility, with the majority of work completed remotely and outside standard hours. Payment is made upon completion of each case.
Key Responsibilities:
• Undertake comprehensive fostering assessments (Form F) with prospective foster carers.
• Visit applicants in their homes once or twice a week over the course of the assessment period (approx. 4 months, but may vary).
• Write detailed assessment reports and ensure documentation is accurate, clear, and compliant with fostering regulations and standards.
• Maintain regular communication with East Riding’s fostering team throughout the assessment process.
• (Where applicable) Attend court hearings related to the case.
Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with current registration (e.g., Social Work England).
• Proven experience in completing fostering assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage workload flexibly and meet deadlines.
• Court experience is desirable but not essential.
Working Pattern:
• Ad hoc basis – cases assigned as needed.
• Flexible hours – assessments require approx. 6 hours of work per week (may vary based on case complexity).
• Remote working with in-person visits to foster applicants.
Payment Terms:
• Payment upon successful completion of each assessment case.
