As a Speech and Language Therapist at Fair Ways you will work as part of Fair Ways Therapeutic Hub providing Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) across the charity utilising professional understanding and experience to recognise the communication differences of young people within Fair Ways and to implement strategies as part of our trauma informed approach. Trauma Informed - To support the Hub team and other services in a trauma informed approach, you will do this through developing a 'Team-around-the-Relationship' approach to service delivery. This allows front line staff and those we care for to feel safe, develop relationships, learn to be co-regulated and develop understanding around emotions. Assessment - You will be creative in completing assessments to identify the most appropriate pathways meeting with those we support and their networks in order to clearly formulate the needs of the young person and communicate Hub recommendations to their wider network. This will ensure those we support have have a voice in their care and the right therapeutic interventions in place to allow them to fulfill their potential. Clinical Knowledge / Outcomes - You will demonstrate research and critical appraisal skills, as well as being conversant with Fair Ways policies and procedures and using evidence to support clinical decision-making through understanding and supporting the use of routine outcome measures as well as keeping up to date with current best practice. You will show commitment to your own personal and continuous professional development through self-assessment, supervision, training, and the acquisition of different learning opportunities, ensuring that those we care for are provided with the highest quality of support. Managing Risk - You will contribute to dynamically assessing and managing risk associated with those we care for. This will be achieved through contributing to risk assessments and management plans, providing cover of the duty system supporting incoming queries from our services. This enables staff to support young people in feeling safe in developing relationships, learning to be co-regulated and developing understanding around their emotions so that they can access further therapeutic intervention safely. Intervention / Caseload Management - As a Fair Ways SALT you will manage a caseload of young people with complex needs creating and reviewing clear care plans in line with 'the Hub Pathways' identifying and implementing strategies as well as having oversight of communication interventions across the charity. This allows us to support young people who have difficulties with their communication as a result of complex trauma, mental or physical ill health and neurodivergence. Training - You will deliver training and consultation to Fair Ways staff relating to Speech and language therapy strategies and interventions. This will be done through development of staffs skills to meet the communication needs of children and young people across all areas of the charity. Professional Development - You will be actively involved in your own personal and professional development through engagement with regular line management and supervision from the leadership team in the Hub. You will maintain good knowledge of current best practice and statutory regulations to ensure best levels of service delivery for you and those we care for.
