Are you passionate about supporting young people who need a fresh start in education? A well-established alternative provision setting in Sedgley is seeking a dedicated and resilient Mentor to join their team immediately.This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a pupil referral unit (PRU) that supports children and young people across Key Stages 1, 2, and 3, many of whom have experienced challenges in mainstream education due to social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
About the SettingThis short-stay provision offers a structured, nurturing environment for pupils who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion. The school focusses on
re-engaging learners, building confidence, and preparing them for reintegration into mainstream or specialist settings.Staff work closely with pupils to develop emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and academic resilience, using a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.
About the RoleAs a Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support across the school
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Act as a role model, promoting respect, resilience, and responsibility
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies

✅ Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEND
  • Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to work flexibly across different age groups and settings
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
