Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Service Support Officer to become a vital part of the Refugee, Resettlement & Migration Service.

You will play a key role in providing self-directed, proactive, and confidential professional business and administrative support to facilitate operational delivery.

Salary: £26,409 to £27,711 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: Your base location will be County Hall, West Street, Chichester PO19 1RQ

Interview Date: week commencing Monday 23 June 2025.

This role requires the successful candidate to predominantly work from a county council building with the expectation to work with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic way including supporting with community events. There will be opportunities to work from home. Final arrangements to be confirmed with the successful candidate.

You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes are available.

About the Job

In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the dedicated work of the Resettlement Property Team by updating databases, attending important meetings to create detailed written records, and liaising with various internal and external stakeholders.

You will also provide valuable assistance to the Property and Accommodation Team by helping to record documentation and occasionally participating in housing viewings.

Any given day can often feel quite different from the next! There will be some key responsibilities likely to feature in this role, including:

  • Dealing effectively with enquiries from different channels, for example members of the public, customers, service users, internal departments, and professionals from other agencies.
  • Using a range of software packages to produce documents, presentations, and spreadsheets to a high standard.
  • Providing guidance and advice to all enquiries in a timely manner. Taking ownership of enquiries and providing feedback on progress and outcomes ensuring contacts are escalated if appropriate.
  • Gathering and accurately recording highly sensitive and confidential data on the designated databases, collating key information relating to Refugee, Resettlement and Migration and partner agencies.
  • Building genuine and effective working relationships with colleagues in the Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Service and our partner agencies.
  • Ordering items for families, preparing payment requisitions, checking and goods receipting supplier invoices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications or experience operating at this level of literacy and numeracy.
  • A recognised qualification in office skills, administration, or a business-related subject at level 2 or 3 of the National Qualifications Framework, or equivalent experience gained in a workplace setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative tasks and processes, including data entry and database management.
  • Keen attention to detail, able to prioritise between competing demands and to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • High IT competency including a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels.
