About the employer

The Employer is a lady living in her own home in Oundle. She has controlled Epilepsy and uses a walking stick.

A personal assistant is sought to support her continued independent life, to enjoy her pastimes and to enable her to access the community safely.

Main Duties
• Accompanying on local shopping trips and outings, ranging from walks in the local area, to going for coffee or a simple wander round the shops. The employer will use a wheelchair if visiting a supermarket.
• The successful applicant must be a full driving licence holder and have access to a reliable car. You must also have business cover on your motor insurance policy (proof will be required). Mileage will be paid, minus the commute.
• There is no personal care involved in this role, however you may be asked to monitor the Employer whilst she showers etc., to ensure her safety at all times.
• The Employer enjoys baking cakes so would like to be supported to do this on occasion, and also to be helped to make and create simple meals and snacks if she chooses.
• Light household chores as required – i.e. vacuuming, ironing, tidying up etc.
• In the nicer weather the Employer likes to spend time in the garden. Assistance with helping her to pot her flowers and plants etc may be needed. No heavy gardening is involved.
• Any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

Additional employment information

The Employer has a cat. There is no pet care involved in the role.

Experience of Epilepsy beneficial but not essential. To be discussed further at interview.

The successful applicant will be calm and friendly. Be able to give empathetic support, while respecting the Employer’s independence but also able to take instruction.

Must be flexible, trustworthy and active with a good sense of humour.

Please note you will be directly employed by the person (or their representative) that you will be assisting. The Council is not the Employer.
