Summary

Bexley is a great place in which to live, work or study. It has the best of both worlds - close to the centre of London but still a green, safe, and friendly place to be. And our mission is to make Bexley even better by tackling health inequalities, supporting residents to live the best lives possible and to reach their potential.

To help us achieve our ambitions we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, team player to join our developing public health team.

Working as part of a passionate public health team, you will provide expert commissioning advice alongside identifying and promoting best practice in developing a range of key public health services. You will commission, implement and deliver public health programmes and projects relating to healthy behaviours (for example, sexual health, substance misuse, smoking and NHS Health Checks), ensuring positive outcomes and helping to tackle health inequalities.

Collaborative working is integral to delivering for our residents and you will aid and influence delivery across a range of stakeholders including across the local authority, the voluntary and community sector, within the new NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) structure (at regional, ‘place’, and neighbourhood levels), and other relevant partners, such as housing associations and businesses.

If you are passionate about making a difference and further developing a career in public health, then we would like to hear from you.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

Candidate Profile

You will have experience of tackling health inequalities and delivering related outcomes within local authority and health settings, through commissioning, performance management and partnership working.

Have strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to work in partnership across boundaries to influence senior managers and other key stakeholders.

Your adaptability and superb organisational skills will enable you to manage competing priorities, and you will remain flexible and adaptable working within the team.

You will have a formal qualification, preferably to a degree level, in a discipline relevant to the responsibilities of Public Health within a Local Authority context, or equivalent work experience.
A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is desirable but not essential.

You must be able to demonstrate your commitment to ongoing professional development and your ability to deliver against the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework.
For the full list of essential and desirable criteria for this role then please refer to the Person Specification within the Job Description.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
