Summary


We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic and highly motivated Cardiac Physiologist to join our dynamic and friendly team at Dorset County Hospital.

We are looking for an experienced Chief Cardiac Physiologist to join our team as we continue to develop new physiologist led services, community based echo services, advanced echo procedures and education and training programmes in echocardiography.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate expertise within echocardiography, have excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills with a willingness to participate in teaching, training, and mentoring at all levels.

Applicants must have BSE level 2 Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) Accreditation in Adults and are willing to demonstrate leadership development.

You will be expected to be an independent practitioner in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography and to participate in specialised procedures such as TOE, Stress Echo, and Contrast/Bubble Studies, working closely with the Cardiologists.

Continuation of professional development within the role is essential. The successful applicant will also be able to train and expand into other areas of Cardiac Physiology provided by the department including cardiac device implant and follow up, diagnostic angiography and cardiac intervention including participation in the on-call.

We actively support continuing professional development, including more advance echo techniques, IBHRE/BHRS accreditation and training in leadership and management. We also encourage and support attendance at relevant educational courses, national and regional meetings.

At Dorset County Hospital we perform coronary angiography and intervention, providing a Primary PCI service during normal working hours. We have two cardiac catheter labs where we perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation, implant cardiac devices and site atrial appendage occlusion.

There is ample opportunity to get involved in developments and research within the department including our remote device follow-up service.

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated physiologist who is organised, flexible with good team working mentality. You will assist the cardiology team in providing high quality, patient centred care.

You will be expected to maintain your own professional development with support and encouragement from the department. You are also required to keep up to date with emerging research evidence and current clinical guidelines.

In this role you would be expected to provide echocardiography to outpatient and inpatients from a range of referral pathways.
