Summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated sonographer to join our busy, dynamic and friendly Ultrasound team.
All applicants must have professional registration (HCPC/NMC or equivalent) and hold the PG Certificate or Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. Candidates will be expected to have excellent communication skills and as a minimum have experience in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. Due to current training and service commitments, we are unable to provide additional training required to conform to FASP guidelines. It would be ideal if the applicant has evidence of working in an NHS ultrasound department.

We are committed to the continuous improvement of our services and to the training and development of our staff. We have an established preceptorship in place for newly qualified Sonographers and a structured induction programme for new staff. We support the continuous professional development of our team e.g. MSc, core and negotiated specialist modules to develop skills and extend the scope of practice e.g. MSK, Head and Neck and Paediatrics.

The obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound service is based in the Maumbury Outpatient department where a full range of obstetric ultrasound, including Fetal medicine is performed. We also support one stop clinics for gynaecology. This is a dynamic cohesive unit with excellent support from sonographers and multidisciplinary team colleagues.
The general medical ultrasound service is based in the Diagnostic Imaging Department where a variety of general, small parts, vascular, MSK and Elastography ultrasound examinations are performed by sonographers and Consultant Radiologists.

Informal visits and discussions would be positively welcomed. For further information please contact Alison Bromley, Lead Sonographer 01305 254530 or alison.bromley@dchft.nhs.uk

At DCHFT, we pride ourselves on the care we provide for our patients, and on the culture, we are creating for our staff. We work hard to create a fair, inclusive environment for our staff.

Our Mission is to work in partnership to provide high quality, compassionate services and to nurture an environment where people can be at their best. Our vision is healthier lives, empowered citizens, thriving communities.

We are a Trust that celebrates diversity, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We welcome applications from people in all under-represented groups.

We understand that some applicants may choose to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in preparing their application materials. While this is not discouraged, we kindly remind candidates that all submissions must be truthful and accurately reflect your own experiences and suitability for this role.
Personal integrity and authenticity are central to our recruitment process. We value honesty and appreciate applications that are genuine and representative of the individual behind them.

You will also be expected to proactively participate in the development of student sonographers and other staff training in ultrasound.
The Radiology department achieved QSI accreditation in 2020, which has been successfully maintained. This supports and underpins the high-quality service we provide.
The post is based at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, but you will also be expected to participate in the provision of a community-wide ultrasound service. Participation in weekend ultrasound cover will also be required.

We are looking to extend the number of advanced practitioner roles to support service development.
