Crynodeb
Working within the depot reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, the Driver Assessor / Trainer will ensure that all training including working processes, manual handling, LGV driver training is delivered to the required standard and training records are maintained for all Colleagues as well as assessing new and existing drivers to assess driving competency.
You would be responsible for delivering professional training and development whilst supporting Managers and Colleagues in the daily performance of their duties.
During peak times you may be required to carry out routes or other reasonable tasks to support business needs including making deliveries to stores. The role may involve occasional travel to deliver training to other areas of the business and for personal development, including training and meetings.
- Conduct both classroom-based instruction on road laws, safety regulations, and vehicle maintenance, as well as practical driving lessons
- Instruct, test and examine colleagues on various types of MHE and manual handling (POPPS)
- Carry out refresher training for all colleagues on the use of Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE/EPT’s)
- Keep accurate records of training sessions, assessments and progress reports for each trainee
- Maintain and update training matrix
- Carry out observations to ensure training is being followed
- Be aware of and comply with all requirements of the Health and Safety policy and procedure including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E)
- Be aware of and comply with all fire safety procedures, including maintaining clear fire exits and escape routes
- Be aware of and always comply with relevant legislation involved in Food Safety and Food Hygiene
- Work with all colleagues to ensure that all corporate goals are consistently achieved and maintained
- To always maintain a professional and polite attitude.
- Assess trainee’s driving abilities through practical SAFED driving evaluations, and 141 instruction and guidance.
- Provide constructive feedback to help trainees improve their driving skills
- A valid HGV licence and up to date CPC training
- Experience in a multi-temperature environment
- Must be numerate, literate and highly organised
- Must have good keyboard skills and proficient in Excel & Word
- A team player with excellent communication skills
- Previous experience as a driver trainer or in a related field is preferred
- Certification from recognized driver training organizations may be advantageous
- Knowledge of Food safety regulations
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
