Summary

This school is a creative and ambitious secondary school with a strong focus on the arts and practical learning. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Art and Design Technology Teacher to join an innovative Expressive Arts and Design Faculty.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled educator to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, and possibly Key Stage 5, depending on experience and curriculum offer. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as DT/Art Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in Art and DT, fostering creativity, independence and technical skills.

  • Teach across a range of media and materials – including drawing, painting, sculpture, and/or resistant materials, textiles, and CAD/CAM (dependent on specialism).

  • Encourage problem-solving, design thinking, and an appreciation for aesthetics and function.

  • Assess and track student progress, providing feedback to help all learners succeed.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, displays, exhibitions, and extra-curricular opportunities.

  • Ensure safe working practices in classrooms and workshops.

Ideal DT/ART Teacher:

  • Be a qualified teacher with QTS (or an ECT with a strong subject background).

  • Have a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary Art and/or Design Technology practices.

  • Demonstrate a passion for hands-on, student-centred learning.

  • Be confident using design software and workshop equipment (training can be provided).

  • Be a team player, eager to contribute to a collaborative and forward-thinking department as a DT/Art Teacher.

  • Show commitment to inclusion and high achievement for all learners.
