Looking for a role that fits around your life while letting you give back to your community? At Carr Gomm, we’re offering the chance to join our Home Respite team in Lochaber (Fort William) as a Support Practitioner, providing essential short-term support to people in their homes.
This is an opportunity to support unpaid carers by offering them time to rest and recharge — all while making a meaningful difference in someone else’s day.
Why Carr Gomm?
We’re a national charity with a local heart. Our Lochaber service focuses on delivering flexible, person-centred care that respects people’s choices and routines. Whether you’re experienced or brand new to care, we’ll support your journey with full training, expert guidance, and a values-driven approach that puts people first.
About the Role
• Provide 1–5 hour support visits in people’s homes to enable carer respite
• Build meaningful relationships with individuals and their families
• Work flexibly — shifts can fit around your other commitments
• Deliver high-quality care, recognised by strong Care Inspectorate ratings
Whether you're seeking a few hours a week or more regular work, we’re happy to discuss what works for you.
Who You Are
• Kind, reliable, and community-minded
• Open to learning — no prior experience needed
• Confident working independently (training provided)
• Driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred, due to rural coverage
We welcome applications from any candidates already eligible to work in the UK or those that can apply for a visa granting permission to work in the UK (e.g. dependent visas, ancestry etc.) that do not require sponsorship from Carr Gomm. You will be asked to share proof of this prior to receiving any offer of employment. It is currently our policy not to offer sponsorship for prospective candidates.
What We Offer
• Anti-social hours payment of up to £1209 per annum when undertaking waking night shift (11pm-7am)
• Time and a half payment for hours worked over 37.5 hours per week (averaged over the pay period)
• Enhanced mileage payment of 45p per mile
• 35 days’ holiday per year, increasing to 40 days with length of service.
