About the Role:
NW Recruitment Services Ltd are currently exclusively recruiting a passionate and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join the team at a well-established countryside dining venue located in the scenic village of Tockholes.

This position offers the opportunity to work with locally sourced ingredients and a varied menu that includes Starters and Mains, Children’s Meals, Lunches & Sides, Jacket Potatoes, Sunday Roasts, and a popular Dessert Menu. The venue also hosts Specials Nights every Tuesday and Friday, showcasing traditional, flavourful dishes and chef-led innovations.

As Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen, lead sections during service, and take an active role in training junior staff. You will also step up to oversee the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring continuity in quality, efficiency, and kitchen morale.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and ambitious chef looking to take the next step in their career within a high-quality, fast-paced kitchen that values consistency, creativity, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Head Chef in managing all aspects of kitchen operations and food service.
• Take the lead on specific sections during service and ensure dishes meet the highest standards.
• Contribute to the creation of weekly specials and seasonal menu ideas.
• Assist in managing kitchen staff, including mentoring and guiding junior team members.
• Step in to cover the Head Chef during planned or occasional absences.
• Oversee stock levels, ordering, and stock rotation to maintain efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure all kitchen processes comply with food safety, health & safety, and hygiene regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and productive work environment.
• Uphold quality and consistency across the menu.

Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Chef De Partie or Junior Sous Chef role within a fresh, quality-driven kitchen.
• A strong understanding of kitchen management, food hygiene, and safety practices.
• Capable of leading a section and stepping into a leadership role when required.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in professional cookery (Level 3 desirable).
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Own transportation is desirable due to the rural location and limited public transport options.

Benefits:
• Competitive starting pay of £14.50 per hour, increasing to £16.00 after 12 weeks.
• Weekly pay for the first 12 weeks (paid for the previous week's hours).
• Staff meals provided during shifts.
• Opportunity to work under an experienced Head Chef with a background in nationally acclaimed and Michelin-standard kitchens.
• Training and professional development opportunities.
• Supportive team culture in a respected hospitality venue.
• Role begins with a 12-week temporary-to-permanent contract, transitioning to a permanent role upon successful completion.

Working Hours:
Typical working week of 44 hours, scheduled within the following operational hours (subject to business demands):

• Monday – Closed
• Tuesday to Thursday – 10am to 8pm
• Friday & Saturday – 10am to 8pm
• Sunday – 10am to 7:30pm

Please note: There may be occasions where the Head Chef is away from the venue. During such times, the Junior Sous Chef will be expected to lead the kitchen, although this will not be a frequent occurrence.
