Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Rates Officer to join our Business Rates Team within Revenue and Benefits service.
About the Role
As a Business Rates Officer you will provide advise and support on Business Rates. Working as a Business Rates Officer is a challenging but rewarding role. You will need to be flexible in your approach and be able to adapt to changing demands of the Service.
On a day-to-day basis, your role will be to provide an efficient service to our business community, through various channels, and to maintain our revenues and benefits databases in the administration of billing, collection, and recovery of business rates in accordance with statutory provisions and local procedures, maximising revenue, and minimising loss.
Excellent communication skills, including good writing skills and the ability to record information clearly and accurately along with experience of delivering excellent customer service within a busy customer environment is essential.
Key Responsibility

Deliver an efficient, user friendly service tailored to customer needs
Monitor and collect outstanding Business Rates to ensure that recovery is maximised
Update the Business Rates system so that records are accurate and up to date.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a candidate with:

Experience in using a range of IT systems for case management and compliance
Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines independently
A customer-first mindset with the ability to explain complex information clearly

Previous experience working in a Revenues and Benefits, or customer service role would be an advantage however, we will consider candidates who can show they have experience in a similar environment and who can bring relevant skills that would show they can develop into the role by undertaking the necessary training.
