Driver Essential
I am a blind woman in my early forties, seeking a dependable, friendly, and supportive female personal assistant to help me maintain my independence and access my new local community.
About the role.
This is a varied and rewarding support role, involving both at-home and out-and-about tasks. Typical duties include:
Going for walks
Going swimming
Helping me learn to run/jog on local cycle paths/countryside roots or as part of a local running group.
Accompanying me to medical appointments, or social events
Accompanying me for accessing coffee shops or local amenities
Assisting with clothes and occasionally food shopping
Helping with batch cooking
Organising my wardrobe, insuring outfits are easy to co-ordinate by colour.
Supporting me with paperwork and form filling
Occasionally supporting me at spa days which are my favourite thing to do.
Availability.
I require support for 6 hours per week, and I can offer flexibility with scheduling:
Either 2 evenings per week (typically Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, 3 hours each),
Or one full day on a Friday (6 consecutive hours)
We can discuss what works best for both of us.
Requirements.
A positive open-minded attitude
Effective communication skills
Willingness to support physical activities like walking, jogging, or swimming at the local swimming baths or Challenor Pond.
Respect for personal boundaries and confidentiality.
Basic cooking and organisational skills.
You must be a driver with a full clean driving licence. Experience with visual impairment is preferred but not essential as I can provide guidance and training. You do not need to be a trained guide runner for the visually impaired; I can train you as we go.
If you are empathetic, dependable, and interested in making a real difference, I would love to hear from you. To apply or ask questions
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be male/female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4.
