FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor to strengthen their team.
Location: Cumbria/Warrington - flexible on location.

Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor responsibilities:
As a Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor, you will oversee the successful delivery of nuclear safety projects and tasks, ensuring they remain within budget and satisfy client requirements, while providing technical leadership in the development of nuclear safety cases and related documentation.
Facilitating and leading hazard identification workshops, such as HAZOP.
Apply Claims, Arguments, and Evidence techniques, or comparable approaches, to effectively communicate safety case arguments.
Collaborate with engineering teams, plant operators, and specialist safety disciplines—such as Human Factors, Fire Safety, Criticality, Radiological Shielding, and Environmental—to develop and present coherent, comprehensive safety cases.
Build and maintain lasting client relationships while managing consultant teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, while identifying opportunities for business growth and service development.
Assist in business and service development initiatives.
Senior Nuclear Safety Assessor requirements:
You will be a highly skilled and experienced nuclear safety consultant with strong report writing expertise and proven mentoring abilities.
Strong expertise in nuclear safety techniques.
Safety Case production and management for all stages of plant lifecycle from concept design to decommissioning, hazard identification, fault analysis, Design Basis Accident (DBA) assessment, Barrier Analysis, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA), radiological consequence assessment, development of safety functional requirements, ALARP assessment.
Good knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards.
A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control/ Electrical Engineering.
Sufficient and appropriate post-graduate relevant experience.
