Summary

Developing piping and highland drumming to provide: An important niche musical capability as part of the RAF’s overall musical mix. A worthwhile pastime, promoting Service ethos. Value-for-money display assets that promote the corporate RAF signature, supporting the engagement strategies of the RAF, nearby stations, and wider Defence.
Recruiting military and authorised civilian pipers and drummers to produce the high standard of musical and display output expected of the RAF P&Ds.
Providing individual and collective tuition for learners and players in order to develop their skills to the level required to participate in ceremonial events.
Developing skills and confidence of individuals and units through participation in Tri-Service engagement.
Controlling the Band Public and Non-Public funds in conjunction with the Band Treasurer, arranging for audit scrutiny as required.
Undertaking all correspondence, coordination (command, control and logistics) and engagement arrangements iaw JSP813 or other prevailing instructions.
Attending RAF Pipe Band Association meetings as a member of the General Committee.
Monitoring the condition of and ensuring that routine maintenance is carried out on all RAF P&Ds instruments.
Maintaining the RAF P&Ds premises in a suitable state for band rehearsals.
Maintaining the RAF P&Ds inventory.
Any other appropriate duties as directed by your Chain of Command (PSO to AOS).
