Job Title: Building Control Surveyor

Ref: Brent 5267082

Pay rate: £19.46 per hour PAYE

Driving licence needed for this role as you will be required to travel around the borough.

The role:

We are seeking a Building Control Surveyor to support the regulatory oversight of building works by reviewing construction plans and specifications, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and relevant legislation.

You will play a key role in promoting the service and the Council’s commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and customer-focused solutions while providing expert technical support to all stakeholders.

Key requirements:

Perform site inspections of building works at various stages, documenting results in all weather conditions
Check for unauthorised or non-compliant works, preparing reports, evidence, and correspondence as necessary
Continuously develop knowledge of legislation, construction methods, and relevant guidance
Provide technical administrative support, including processing applications, validations, and team inbox tasks
Offer frontline technical advice, including pre-application guidance, monitoring, and enforcement actions
Advise on Building Regulations charges, legislation, and local schemes; explain and determine charges for specific projects



What the client is looking for:

A minimum of RBI registration at Class 2A with the Building Safety Regulator
A full UK driving licence and access to a car to travel to sites within and outside the borough
Full understanding of Building Control Regulations, The Building Act, Approved Documents and Associated Legislation and Standards
Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, techniques and their evaluation
Working knowledge of the Service policy, procedures and pledges
In depth understanding of enforcement legislation and procedures
Full understanding of Approved Inspector Regulations
Experience of investigating infringements and taking effective enforcement action and/or seeking suitable resolutions
