The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Surveyor reporting to the Building Control Manager with responsibility for all matters relating to the Building Regulations, The Building Act and delivering on targets for a shared area within the borough including Major Projects and cross boundary working.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate and respond to service requests members enquires and complaints within an area adhering to corporate guidance and targets. The postholder would have demonstrated compliance by having undertaken 5 items of the above within the proceeding year.
Assist with training, mentoring and provision of Building Control advice guidance to Building Control surveyors, junior trainee surveyors and agency staff as required.
Coordinate own and team workloads, operate under own initiative and proactively engage with contractors developers and other clients to maximise partnership arrangements workload and income for the Council. Promote the service at all times and work across borough boundaries where necessary.
What the client is looking for:
Qualified as a chartered professional (Surveyor; Building Engineer; Civil, Structural or Fire Safety)
A valid UK driving licence and access to a car/ vehicle to carry out duties and functions of the Service
Ability to deal with wide range of stakeholders involving the use of a range of interpersonal, negotiating and marketing skills
Experience of working in a highly competitive environment with private Approved Inspectors who can undertake the Building Regulation function in competition with the local authority on a project by project basis
Able to work with high level of work related pressure in terms of statutory corporate and customer deadlines, management of conflicting and changing priorities
