Summary
Morgan Hunt is supporting a reputable public sector organisation with the recruitment of a Procurement Manager on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to add value and drive sustainable procurement practices. This hybrid role offers significant flexibility, with most of the team working remotely and attending the Glasgow or Edinburgh office just once a week.
The role:
- Lead the procurement function to deliver the Corporate Plan, ensuring alignment with sustainable procurement strategies, policies, and current directives.
- Manage tender planning and execution using the Scottish Government Procurement Journey, identifying opportunities to rationalise and consolidate procurement activity.
- Develop and implement commodity strategies based on market research, risk analysis, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on value for money and lifecycle costing.
- Oversee contract and supplier management to ensure delivery against strategic goals, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
- Champion sustainability and governance in all procurement processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and the Sustainability Procurement Duty.
- Support internal audits and digital procurement initiatives (e.g., ePurchase Cards), acting as a key contact for demonstrating compliance and driving procurement innovation.
Experience required:
- Previous experience in a public sector procurement role is essential
- Strong commercial mindset and excellent stakeholder management skills
- Contract and supplier management experience
- CIPS qualification is desirable
