The Opportunity
This is your chance to join a major programme delivering critical infrastructure for national security. As the Commissioning Manager, you’ll lead the planning and execution of commissioning strategies for a complex, high-profile engineering programme. This is a minimum 2-year contract with a strong likelihood of extension, offering long-term stability and hybrid working (Glasgow/WFH). Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Develop and implement acceptance & commissioning strategies for the programme.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate commissioning requirements early in the design phase.
- Review technical documentation to ensure compliance with commissioning needs.
- Act as the key liaison between stakeholders, contractors, and the customer.
- Chair workshops and meetings on commissioning activities.
- Contribute to integrated schedules, hold point control strategies, and risk/opportunity management.
- Support procurement activities with commissioning-related specifications.
- (Future) Lead and manage a team of commissioning engineers.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a technical role, with proven experience as a Commissioning Manager (or similar).
- Experience in a nuclear-regulated environment with knowledge of commissioning requirements.
- Ability to interpret and produce technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Knowledge of Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs).
- Highly organised with a track record of meeting deadlines.
It’s great if you also have the following:
- Chartered status with a relevant engineering body.
- Knowledge of engineering standards and operating procedures in similar environments.
- Understanding of engineering lifecycle based on CICWP.

Hybrid working across Glasgow and home, with occasional travel to other UK locations and supply chain partners
