Summary
We’re looking for a Multi-Skills Technician to support our vocational construction workshops within a prison setting. Working alongside our Multi-Skills Trainer, you’ll help create a safe, practical, and engaging learning environment where learners develop essential trade skills such as plastering, painting and decorating, tiling, and dry lining.
This is a rewarding and varied role, ideal for someone with a construction background who is committed to supporting skill development and rehabilitation through hands-on learning.
What you’ll be doing:
Preparing and maintaining workshop spaces, tools, and materials for training sessions
Supporting practical activities and demonstrations aligned with City & Guilds Level 2 qualifications
Assisting learners with tasks, offering guidance and encouragement
Managing tool inventories and conducting safety checks
Promoting health, safety, and security standards in line with prison protocols
Helping with administrative tasks such as attendance records and progress tracking
Collaborating with prison staff to support learner success and workshop delivery
What we’re looking for:
A Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a construction trade
Practical experience in trades such as plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, or dry lining
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A calm, confident presence – able to support others and handle challenges constructively
A genuine interest in motivating learners and helping them grow
Willingness to work towards teaching or assessing qualifications if not already held
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience in a vocational or training setting
Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
Knowledge of City & Guilds qualifications and workshop safety standards
Awareness of restorative practices or supporting learners with additional needs
