Clinical: The postholder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of dermatology services to the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust to include: Diagnosis and treatment of children with skin disease, as well as adults and children with genetic skin diseases (in-patient and outpatient settings) To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to children with skin disease and patients with genodermatoses as part of the extensive tertiary referral service To provide continuing clinical responsibility for the patient in your charge To support specialist outpatient clinics (paediatric dermatology, genetics, paediatric allergy & general adult dermatology) as well as collaborating with clinical nurse specialists working in the service To support the general adult dermatology clinic Teaching and Training: The postholder is expected to contribute to the extensive teaching and training programme at St Johns. Specifically, this post encompasses Responsibility shared with colleagues for the educational supervision of trainees attending the department. Support for the postgraduate MSc course Research To support the extensive clinical research programme at St Johns including Supervising and contributing to the provision of required medical support for patients undergoing clinical trials in the Skin Therapy Research Unit Promoting clinical research activities to other members of clinical Staff within St. Johns thereby enhancing the delivery of research programme Clinical Governance: All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management. They will be expected to produce evidence of their contribution in these areas and their audit of their own clinical work as part of their appraisal. Mutual Obligation to Monitor Hours: There is a contractual obligation on employers to monitor working hours through robust local monitoring arrangements supported by national guidance, and on individual doctors to co-operate with those monitoring arrangements. European Working Time Directive (EWTD): All posts and working patterns are under constant review in line with EWTD guidelines Educational Programme: This is a BAD-accredited post-CCT fellowship position in Paediatric Dermatology, one of only two such posts nationally within Paediatric Dermatology. Neither the London Deanery nor the Royal College accredits this post for postgraduate training.
