Summary

The STRAP Policy and Governance Assistant Head role sits in the Cyber Defence and Risk – Governance, Risk and Compliance Policy team and is responsible to the Deputy Head Cyber Security Policy for leading on STRAP standards and best practice across Defence.

STRAP is a regime that regulates access to sensitive intelligence material which requires more protective handling than is afforded by the standard arrangements for government assets.

Responsibilities

Lead continuous improvement of STRAP standards and best practice across Defence, guiding and influencing project and policy decision making as appropriate and seeking novel resolutions to challenging security issues.




Lead the assurance of STRAP compliance across Defence to ensure MOD adheres to Cabinet Office STRAP policy and protects its most valuable information assets.




Lead the development and implementation of a STRAP strategy to address risk and assurance across MOD. Lead the delivery of the STRAP Improvement Plan.




Lead the development and implementation of an active communications plan, to ensure that the implications and risks of not resolving STRAP risk are understood.




Lead the risk assessment process to ensure STRAP risks are properly understood and acted upon across Defence, ensuring risks are addressed and escalated as necessary, and that appropriate governance and training are in place and enforced.




Liaise with appropriate stakeholders across Defence, other Government Departments, Security Agencies and industry to represent and advance MOD STRAP interests.




Line management of STRAP Policy and Risk team.
