Summary
A Vacancy at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an exceptional pharmacist with excellent subject matter expertise in medication safety particularly with experience in secondary care. You will be confident in presenting your subject matter, advocating for medication safety as a national priority, and be a natural leader of the national Medication Safety Officer (MSO) network.
The post is at 8c for 0.4WTE on a permanent contract
The post is hosted by University Hospitals of Liverpool Group; however, the post holder can work remotely. Flexible working arrangements are available.
The post holder will:
• Support Medication Safety Officers (MSOs) across England via the monthly MSO webinars and by communication of key medication safety messages.
• Develop and deliver Medication Safety across the System (MSATS) webinar.
• Develop and co-ordinate publication of medication safety resources and support tools on the SPS website to support national medication safety improvement projects.
• Work across SPS to provide medication safety subject matter expertise.
• Be a recognised leader in medication safety, providing expert opinions and working with senior colleagues in partnership organisations.

NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) supports the NHS to develop best practice systems of work-related to buying, making, and using medicines. The service provides leadership, instructive and informative specialist input and operational support to the sourcing, supply, and use of medicines across the system.
Our strengths are borne out of connecting national expertise with policy teams and arm’s length bodies to ensure consistency and high standards. The service supports both regional and local connections to ensure that the service’s outputs resonate with and support local NHS organisations which deliver care to patients. The key successes of SPS are through the development and delivery of their “Do Once and Share” methodology
Medicines Use and SafetyTeam
We are a well-respected team of pharmacy experts working with agility and flexibility to promote safe and optimised use of medicines across all care settings in England. Closely connected with front line colleagues, policy makers, regulators and strategic leaders, we develop and share resources that support practitioners to implement legislation, guidance and good practice. We share our resources in multiple digital and media formats along with providing extensive networking opportunities.
• Recognised as a national expert in medication safety, supporting Medication Safety Officers (MSOs) in primary and secondary care organisations across England.
• Identifies content and presenters and where appropriate chairs the monthly MSO webinars and other network activities in close collaboration with NHS E and the MHRA
• Develops and co-ordinates publication of medication safety resources and support tools on the SPS website.
• Leads the design and supports the implementation at national and regional level of medication safety improvement projects, using intelligence gained via the MSO network and incident reporting.
• Provides medication safety subject matter expertise to end users, the wider SPS team and other stakeholders
• Communicates key medication safety messages to MSOs and other
stakeholders.
