Summary

IPS Group have a fantastic new opportunity for a Junior Underwriter looking to take the next step and move into the growing world of technology underwriting. Based in Birmingham, this newly created role is part of a UK-wide strategy to grow in the mid-market tech space, this would be perfect for someone with a grounding in cyber, professional indemnity, or property and casualty who’s ready to broaden their experience.

You’ll be working closely with a Senior Underwriter and part of a supportive team of around 25 across the UK and Ireland. The role covers a mix of new business and renewals, mainly focusing on companies with turnover between £60–70 million handling premiums ranging from £5k to £50k.

The book is primarily led by cyber and PI, with additional exposure to property and casualty. Expect a blend of online underwriting and traditional, manual work, ideal for someone looking to grow their technical skills while gaining insight into one of the most forward-facing areas of the insurance market.

This role is well suited to someone with one or more years of underwriting experience, who’s proactive, hard working and keen to learn more about the risks and challenges faced by tech businesses. You’ll also be involved in new business development, pipeline building, and broker engagement, with opportunities to travel to other offices and client meetings as needed.

The role is hybrid, with 3 days a week in the Birmingham office (4 during your initial learning period), and Mondays as the team’s anchor day.
