Housing Options Officer

Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in Corby, Kettering, or Wellingborough Offices
Pay Rate: £16.63 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: 3-month temporary assignment
Essential: Full UK Driving Licence & Access to Own Vehicle
Location: Kettering, NN15 7QX

We are actively seeking a skilled and motivated Housing Options Officer to join a Housing team on a temporary basis. If you’re passionate about supporting vulnerable people, understand homelessness legislation, and can manage a demanding caseload, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference.

Important Note
Due to past issues with travel logistics, please only apply if you live within a reasonable commuting distance to Corby, Kettering, or Wellingborough. Candidates with long commutes will not be considered.

Role Overview

You will help reduce backlogs and waiting times by managing and triaging homeless applications, assessing housing needs, and offering practical advice to those at risk of homelessness. Your decisions will directly impact lives, ensuring applicants receive timely, lawful, and compassionate support.

Key Responsibilities

Triage and manage homeless applications efficiently
Make informed decisions under the Housing Act 1996 (Part 7)
Provide clear advice on housing options and rights
Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve cases
Maintain detailed case records and ensure compliance with statutory duties



What We’re Looking For

Solid experience in housing options, homelessness casework, or similar
A firm grasp of relevant legislation and local authority responsibilities
Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload with empathy and precision
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
