Summary

We are recruiting Apprentice Maintenance Assistants at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Full Time/ Fixed Term until – September 2029 Carpenter and Painter Fixed Term until September 2030 - Electrician
Location: Various Locations across the Borough

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Caerphilly Homes Asset and Maintenance Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £24,404 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Caerphilly Homes maintain over 10,600 homes within the Caerphilly Borough providing a customer focused reactive and planned service and are now looking to expand the team by recruiting 2 apprentice carpenters, 1 apprentice painter & 1 apprentice electrician.



An apprenticeship is a developmental role whereby the post holder will be required to undertake a training programme which will include attendance at college on day release to complete appropriate qualifications in a relevant trade.



The post holder will undertake duties during the apprenticeship to provide support and assistance to trade persons. The duties undertaken will be dependent on the level of competence attained over the course of the apprenticeship in the repair, maintenance and refurbishment to domestic properties.



The duration of the apprenticeship is 3 years for carpenters and painter and 4 years for apprentice electrician. On completion you will become a qualified tradesman in the desired trade.



For the role, we ask that you have:

A relevant craft or trade Level 1 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales.
Knowledge of associated building trade practices relevant to the level of training received.
Relevant experience within a repairs and maintenance environment.
A Flexible approach to working hours during the normal working week and job skills.
