TeacherActive is currently seeking a dedicated Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive SEND school in St Helens. This is a full-time role within a well-established, purpose-built setting that caters to children with a wide range of special educational needs including autism, physical disabilities, and complex learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupils' learning and development plans

  
  

• Support pupils with personal care needs, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times

  
  

• Implement strategies and interventions under the guidance of teachers and therapists

  
  

• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  
  

• Communicate effectively with teaching staff, parents, and multi-disciplinary teams to support pupils’ progress

  
  

• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment

  
  Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    
    

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is highly desirable

    
    

  • Comfortable providing personal care as part of your day-to-day responsibilities

    
    

  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude

    
    

  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support (desirable but not essential)
