Job Summary:
Mays Group is looking to hire an experienced quantity surveyor to take ownership of project management from searching for opportunities to preparing project tender packages and overseeing all aspects of the project from start to finish. The ideal candidate must have a can-do attitude and take full ownership of the role.
Your duties as a Quantity Surveyor will include:
• Searching for project opportunities.
• Assisting in the identification of client’s needs and conducting feasibility studies to make sure their proposals work.
• Preparing and analyzing project costings to tenders. This includes calculating materials quantities and costs, labour costs, labour, and achievable project timeframe.
• Negotiating labour contracts and schedules.
• Preparing tender and contract documents with the client and/or architect, including bills for quantities.
• Advising clients and crew on legal matters and disputes.
• Advising clients on a procurement strategy.
• Monitoring subcontractors, safety practices, construction progress and material needs including any changes which may impact costs.
• Preparing labour and supplier accounts for payment.
• Writing reports detailing costs and project progress for clients.
• Identifying, analyzing, and responding to commercial risks.
• Providing advice on disputes and claims under a contract.
The ideal candidate will hold the following skills and experiences:
• Demonstrable experience within Quantity Surveying
• Have a track record of seeking project opportunities.
• Knowledge of Construction Industry Health and Safety
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Be computer literate with strong IT skills.
• Get up and go attitude.
• Work collaborative with others.
• Organised.
