Summary
There are two vacancies, each within the following teams:
The Leadership Capability Team's primary objective is to support DWP's strategic priorities by fostering a leadership culture that promotes individual and team learning. We are committed to working systemically with the organisation, understanding its needs through a consultancy service that supports the building of transformational leadership capability and an enabling culture. Our goal is to develop leaders who can coach, inspire, and empower our people to deliver exceptional results. Our Leadership Development Offer is accessible to all grades, developing core leadership skills and behaviours and creating sustainability through the development of our internal coach community and co-creation of learning interventions with leading suppliers.
The Strategic Capability Team is part of Departmental Capability and Learning (DCAL). DCAL works to support all colleagues in DWP build the capability needed to undertake their roles effectively and better serve our customers. The team plays a crucial role in delivering our strategic priorities and this future-focused role involves aligning key Departmental Capability priorities with broader Departmental Strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, review and evaluation of the Departmental Capability Strategy. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivery and comfortable managing complex projects. The role requires excellent stakeholder management skills, strong project management abilities, and relevant experience. You will work across our business area, the wider DWP Department, and across Government to ensure alignment and coherence.
The successful candidates can be expected to be involved in any of the following key tasks:
- Building trusted relationships and a strong network within DWP and across Government.
- Proven ability to communicate progress clearly, identify and mitigate challenges, and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Consulting with senior leaders in the organisation, diagnosing capability gaps, and working across the team to understand how customers' needs could best be supported and met.
- Utilising strong consultancy skills to support priority projects and initiatives.
- Utilising strong project management skills to support priority projects and initiatives.
- Maintaining a strategic view across key future-focused areas, including departmental skills and capability, automation, and management information embedding the 25/30 DWP Capability Strategy.
- Leading on implementation activities for the DWP Capability Strategy, ensuring alignment across Personal and Professional Learning, with DWP Strategies and wider cross Government initiatives.
- Leading workshops, interviews, focus groups, and utilising other techniques to understand impact and outcomes.
- Ability to analyse and interrogate complex data and produce reports enabling continuous improvement.
