Summary

Looking to lead a dynamic planning team within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority? This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role with a competitive salary and hybrid working.

In the Principal Planning Officer role, you will:

• Managing major and complex planning applications
• Line managing and support a team of Planning Officers
• Providing pre-application advice via our advice service and duty officer line
• Preparing reports and present at Planning Committee (monthly attendance required)
• Monitoring team performance and support professional development
• Working to deadlines and contribute to efficient service delivery

To be successful, you will need:

• A degree (or equivalent) in Town Planning or related discipline
• RTPI membership
• Extensive experience in development management, including complex applications and committee reporting
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
• Attendance required at monthly Planning Committee and site visits

This is a temporary, fixed term assignment for approximately 9–12 months. You'll be working full time, with hybrid working (ideally 1–2 office days per week based in Colwyn Bay – flexible and discussed at interview)
You'll start on a salary of £24.75 per hour plus benefits including weekly pay, holiday accrual and more.
