Hours: 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
We are seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to come and be part of Outpatients
You will be given the opportunity to work within a host of medical and surgical specialities, to oversee clinics, assist with diagnostic investigations and therapeutic treatments.
We cater for patients of all ages and backgrounds, so our ideal candidate must have an approachable, friendly demeanour, and be able to demonstrate professionalism, flexibility and a strong work ethic.

The aim of the Staff Nurse role in the Main Outpatient Department is to work as a member of a nursing team to provide the highest quality nursing care to patients.
The post-holder is responsible for undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced base nursing care to a diverse group of patients.
The post holder will be expected to:
Deliver care without direct supervision;
Accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care
Deputise for senior members of staff in their absence to behave in a manner as laid down in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and to ensure that no duties are undertaken that are outside the scope of competency
To teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce
Be accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others
To act as a professional role model for the HCA’s and students within the department and delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:
• To develop high standards of care and work with the Outpatient Sisters/Charge Nurse to ensure public/patient involvement in care standards. To encourage feedback from patients & relatives.
• To be responsible for managing all health and care aspects of individual Outpatient clinics including patient assessment and the cleanliness and safety of the Outpatient environment.
Service Management:
• To assist when necessary with the definition of nursing standards and maintain the provision and effectiveness of those standards.
• The post holder will ensure that they are aware of all issues relating to Clinical Governance, Quality assurance and Clinical Effectiveness and that they carry out their duties in accordance with these frameworks and standards.
Education Training:
• To contribute to the induction and orientation programmes for new staff ensuring that the needs of the department are met.
• To participate in the sharing of knowledge with colleagues.
Professional Responsibilities:
• To ensure that patients and their relative’s needs are met in a courteous, helpful and compassionate way.
• To work closely with medical colleagues providing nursing expertise, when applicable.
Personal Development:
• To maintain own personal and professional growth.
• To demonstrate research based care.
