Summary
Job description:
Teaching & Learning
Plan and deliver engaging, up-to-date and interactive lessons across all units of all
the Levels (3-6) of Health & Social Science Degree Programme.
Use a variety of teaching methods (in-person and digital) to meet diverse learner
needs.
Prepare learners for assessment via practical assignments and portfolios in line with
BNU guidelines.
Assessment & Quality Assurance
Set and mark assessments, ensuring all learning outcomes are covered and grading
criteria are met.
Provide detailed, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
Participate in internal standardisation and quality assurance processes as required
by the Module and Programme leaders.
Student Support
Offer academic and pastoral support to learners, promoting progression into
employment or further study.
Encourage the development of professional behaviours such as problem-solving,
resilience, adaptability and teamwork, as outlined in the module descriptors and
course handbook.
Curriculum Development & Planning
Contribute to the planning, review and enhancement of the course delivery and
assessment.
Support contextualisation of course materials for fast changing health & social
conditions .
Collaboration & Communication
Liaise with colleagues, senior managers and stakeholders to ensure positive
programme outcome for the students.
Attend team meetings, training events and standardisation activities.
Person specification:
Essential:
A Master’s degree in Sociology, Public Health or in a related discipline
Experience in teaching at UK HE level
Proficiency in using common office software like MS Word, Excel and Database
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Understanding of safeguarding, equality and diversity, and health and safety in an
educational setting
Desirable:
Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, or Level 5 Diploma in Education and
Training) or willingness to work towards one
Experience in delivering Health & Social Science qualifications
Familiarity with online assessment via turnitin
Understanding of current and emerging trends in UK Higher Education
Assessor qualifications and IQA qualifications
